Qatar Airways Optimizes Northern Summer 2025 Flights with New Schedule Changes

Qatar Airways has unveiled multiple modifications to its Northern Summer 2025 (NS25) schedule, impacting flights across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The adjustments, effective from March 30, 2025, to October 25, 2025, include aircraft substitutions, frequency increases, and seasonal reductions aimed at enhancing capacity and operational efficiency.
Major Route Adjustments and Aircraft Changes
Increased Frequencies and Equipment Upgrades
- Doha – Bangkok Suvarnabhumi: Frequency rises from 35 to 38 weekly between June 20 and September 7, with three additional A380 flights replacing Boeing 777-300ER, bringing total A380 operations to 10 weekly.
- Doha – Frankfurt: Service expands from 18 to 20 weekly starting July 1, using 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft.
- Doha – Hanoi: Flights increase from 14 to 17 weekly (except from June 15 to June 30), operated by a mix of 787-8 and 787-9.
- Doha – Nice: Flights increase from four to seven weekly from May 9 to September 9, operated by A350-900.
- Doha – Phuket: Retains 14 weekly flights, exceeding the initially planned 10-11 weekly schedule from May 5 to May 31.
- Doha – London Gatwick: Both daily flights shift to 787-9 from July 16.
Aircraft Swaps Across Routes
- Doha – Algiers: Daily service will now be operated by an Airbus A330-300, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER.
- Doha – Damascus: An A330-300 will replace the previously scheduled A330-200 starting May 1.
- Doha – Denpasar: 787-8 operations from March 30 to May 31, transitioning to 777-300ER from June 1.
- Doha – Ho Chi Minh City: QR974/975 service shifts to a 787-8 on May 5, then upgrades to 787-9 from September 15.
- Doha – Zurich: Service reduces from 14 to 12 weekly between May 1 – June 2 and September 9 – September 29, with select dates seeing an A350-1000 upgrade.
- Doha – Isfahan: Flights resume twice weekly with A320 aircraft from August 1.
Frequency Reductions and Cancellations
Despite some expansions, Qatar Airways has also scaled back certain routes due to demand fluctuations:
Reduced Flight Frequencies
- Doha – Belgrade: Drops from seven to five weekly (May 1 – June 2, October 2 – October 25) with A320 operations.
- Doha – Copenhagen: Reduces from 14 to 12 weekly (May 1 – June 2).
- Doha – Paris CDG: Decreases from 21 to 17 weekly (May 2 – July 1).
- Doha – Rome Fiumicino: Reduces from 21 to 18 weekly (May 2 – May 31).
- Doha – Geneva: Drops from seven to five weekly (May 5 – May 28).
- Doha – Osaka Kansai: Flights reduce from seven to five weekly starting June 4.
Cancellations of Seasonal and Planned Expansions
- Doha – New York JFK: Planned seasonal frequency increase from 18 to 21 weekly (May 31 – September 29) canceled.
- Doha – Los Angeles: Planned seasonal increase from seven to 10 weekly (and 14 weekly from June 30 to August 31) canceled.
- Doha – Lyon: Service fully canceled from April 30.
- Doha – Mersin: The planned three-weekly seasonal service (June 8 – August 24) canceled.
Qatar Airways continues to refine its network to balance operational efficiency with market demand, adjusting routes to optimize capacity for its upcoming Northern Summer 2025 schedule.
